Similar to many complicated health disorders, psoriasis diet has a crucial impact on complex therapy and the general condition of the patient.

Attempts to cure psoriasis by medical hunger did not show convincing positive results. However, there is a difference between hunger and a well thought out diet, necessary to follow all the stages of the disease.

It is obvious that products, containing large amounts of fat, protein, carbohydrates, and cholesterol must be excluded from daily psoriasis diets.

Due to metabolic disturbance a diet which limits fat meat and sausages, liver, kidneys, cream butter (no more than 25g ), egg's yolk, fat fishes, and black caviar is recommended.

Having psoriasis exudativa, you must limit the usage of kitchen salt (under 3g a day). During a treatment course it is forbidden to take antibiotics, alcohol, onion, garlic, horse-radish; anything “red” including tomatoes, ketchups, sauces; red berries including hips etc. Also to limit eggs, fat bacon, smoked meat, citrus, honey, cacao products (chocolate), whole milk. Everything with too much salt, sugar, fat, spicy and sour must be greatly limited in your psoriasis diet.

Such limitations are prescribed for the majority of the patients, though individual reaction (from sharp to neutral) to the diet is observed. That's why to secure positive future results of the treatment it is crucially important to follow the recommendations on psoriais diet.

The food should be simple, diverse, and full of vitamins. If this balanced diet includes a food that you think makes your psoriasis worse, conduct your own research. Stop eating the food, and see what happens. It is possible that some people suffering psoriasis have specific food triggers.

It is highly recommended to use lot of fresh vegetables, fruits and berries (not red ones). Meat products are allowed: not fat beef, boiled or stewed meats of rabbit and turkey (no more than 150g a day).

During the periods of psoriasis flare-ups it is highly recommended to eat vegetarian dishes, cooked on weak meat bouillon. Second dishes are recommended: boiled meat, steam cutlet, meat-balls; side dishes might be various kashas (potato and flour dishes is better to limit), vegetable ragout or steamed vegetables. Only fresh boiled or slightly fried river fish is recommended (excluding sturgeon, cat-fish, and carp).

Coffee and tea should be limited. Its better to use stewed fruit (compote), spring or melted snow water (might be frozen and then melted by room temperature boiled water).
